Steam Turbine Cycles in Thermal Power Plant, Various Cycles of Steam Turbine in Thermal Power Plant.
Course Description
This course free one again, designed for all Engineers especially wish to make their carrier in Thermal Power Plant. As you know study of thermal power plant involves many branches of engineering such as Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Civil, Chemical etc. Therefore it become essential to have some basic concepts get cleared before entering in the power plant. Also Studying thermal power plants is crucial for several other reasons as :
- Energy Generation – Thermal power plants produce a significant portion of the world’s electricity, making them essential for industrial and domestic use.
- Efficiency Optimization –Understanding their operation helps engineers improve efficiency, reduce fuel consumption and minimize environmental impact.
- Environmental Impact – Thermal plants contribute to greenhouse gas emissions, so studying them allows for the development of cleaner energy technologies and better emission control measures.
- Economic Importance – Since these plants play a major role in energy supply, knowing their economics helps in cost management and sustainable energy planning.
- Technological Advancements – Research in this field drives innovations like combined cycle plants, supercritical boilers, and waste heat recovery systems, improving sustainability.
As I have worked in thermal power plant for @ 31 years and like to share my knowledge and Experience to the Engineers in need. My efforts is to assist them by explaining in simple way and simple language so that they can face various written tests, interviews confidently and get through. This course is also beneficial to the Trainee Engineers and Engineers on duty.
First we will learn some basic concepts of Thermal power plant. I have already uploaded three free courses namely Introduction to Thermal Power Plant, Steam Boilers and Ash Handling Plant on this platform. So this is forth one based on Steam Turbine systems. Usually we are learning in line with the Induction Level Training to Engineers which is of about 52 weeks duration.
There are various systems /cycles of Turbine side mentioned as below:
1. Lubricating oil system
2. Seal oil system
3. Governing system
4. G.S. Water cooling system
5. DM water circulation system
6. Feed water system
7. Ejection or vacuum system
8. Steam extraction system
9. Steam draining system
10. Air circulation system
11. Drip circulation system
12. Hydrogen cooling system
13. Stator water cooling system
14. Gland sealing system
15. Air circulation system
16. Condensate system
17. Steam circulation system
18. HP-LP Bypass system
19. Condenser Cooling system
20. Dewatering system
And more.
In this course we are dealing with five systems / cycles and will continue to upload remaining systems in further courses step by step. In this course five cycles of Steam Turbine area are incorporated such as
1. Rankine cycle with Reheat and Regeneration
2. Feed water Cycle
3. Steam Cycle
4, Condensate Cycle and
5. Steam Extraction Cycle.
Please note that only basic concepts are explained and detailed study will be seen later as time permits.
I hope you will get the required information / knowledge about the cycles and definitely like the course and hope to reflect in your reviews. Any suggestions are welcome to me. Thank you and all the best wishes. have a pleasant day .
