Introductory Physics for Aspiring Physicists, Introduction to the field of physics for future physicists..

Course Description

This course provides a thorough introduction to physics, its conventions, and its philosophy. It begins with an introduction to numerical calculations and the standard conventions used in physics. Throughout the course, understanding gradually expands as multiple areas of the discipline are explored.

The course covers:

• What physics is

• How physics is useful

• Conventions in the field

• The current state of physics

• Understanding mathematical formulations in physics

• And more

This series is part of the Semispecula project. A dark, eye-friendly animation style is used throughout, including animations and three-dimensional visualisations of key concepts.

The course is designed for learners with some prior exposure to physics, while still remaining beginner-friendly. As it progresses, the material becomes more advanced, which makes it suitable for learners at different levels. It begins with basic concepts such as speed, velocity, and graphs, then gradually moves towards the philosophy of physics and various subfields, with particular focus on quantum mechanics.

The course consists of short lectures that increase in complexity over time. One of its distinguishing features is its non-traditional approach to introducing physics. Rather than following a standard curriculum centred on accumulating formulae, the course emphasises conceptual understanding, philosophical foundations, and disciplinary conventions. It can be seen as a handbook for physicists, containing knowledge that remains useful throughout a person’s career.
