Course Description

The course will trace the history of warfare and the evolution of modern international law relating to warfare. Geneva conventions of 1949 consolidate customary rules of international law relating to the law of war. Very often, we notice the levels of compliance with international legal norms are far from satisfactory. The course will focus on the levels of compliance with laws of war in the armed conflicts that took place after 1950 till date. The course is specially meant for civil service aspirants, diplomats, soldiers, and students of history and international relations.
