This course is organized by KFUPM’s Center of Excellence in Energy Efficiency (CEEE), an interdisciplinary research institute dedicated to advancing energy efficiency and sustainable energy practices. The center was established with support from King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) as part of national initiatives under the Saudi Energy Efficiency Center (SEEC) and the Saudi Energy Efficiency Program (SEEP), which lead and implement energy efficiency efforts across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

As modern society becomes increasingly complex, energy demand continues to rise, placing greater pressure on fossil fuel resources. Improving energy efficiency is one of the most effective, affordable, and immediate solutions to reduce energy consumption, lower costs, and extend the lifespan of existing energy resources while supporting economic growth.

This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the fundamentals of energy efficiency, combining theory with practical applications. You will learn key concepts such as energy conservation, efficiency, and renewable energy, along with their role in global energy trends and decarbonization.

You will explore how to evaluate energy performance using metrics like Energy Use Intensity (EUI), conduct energy audits, and identify opportunities for improvement. The course also covers building energy efficiency, HVAC optimization, and industrial systems, including waste heat recovery and demand reduction strategies.

In addition, you will gain the skills to assess energy projects financially using tools such as payback period, Net Present Value (NPV), and investment analysis, while understanding policies, incentives, and emerging technologies shaping the future of energy systems.

By the end of this course, you will be equipped to improve energy performance, reduce costs, and make informed technical and financial decisions in real-world scenarios.
