Common Admission Test is conducted every year by one of the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) on a rotational basis, on behalf of the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs). The CAT score is used by various management institutes in India as a criterion for admission to their management programs.

The CAT exam consists of three sections: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR), and Quantitative Ability (QA). CAT Syllabus for Quantitative Aptitude is based on the topics of the Maths syllabus. Arithmetic accounts for more than 50% of the questions asked from the CAT QA Syllabus. The major topics included are profit, loss & discount, time speed & distance, mixtures, average, work, percentage, ratio & proportion, and SI/ CI. The exam duration is 180 minutes, and each section is given a time limit of 60 minutes.
