Business Model Innovation, For profit or non-profit, large or small organizations, this course explains how to build and innovate your business..
Course Description
In this course students will fully explore how an organization creates, delivers, and captures value through a customer-centric and ethical approach to business model innovation. The impact of industry disruption through business model innovation will be explained as students analyze and evaluate existing business models. Using creative thinking and specific innovative patterns, students will gain experience in planning and executing new models to address the complex challenges facing businesses from a variety of industries in the marketplace today. Supporting videos and external online resources will be provided to establish a deeper understanding of the lecture content.
The 9 Building Blocks form the basis for the Business Model Canvas. This tool resembles a painter’s canvas: preformatted with the nine blocks—which facilitates the student’s ability to “paint pictures” of new or existing business models. It is a hands-on tool that fosters understanding, discussion, creativity, and analysis. The robust model can analyze the business model of large companies, e.g., Amazon or Netflix; as well as entrepreneurial start-ups or “mom and pop” small businesses.
